Reservations in the City: Lunch, Reimagined at Black Jack Bar Tapas

There are restaurants that serve a great meal, and then there are restaurants that create an entire experience. Black Jack Bar Tapas effortlessly delivers both.

From the moment I walked in, I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary lunch. The space is absolutely stunning. Rich textures, moody lighting, and thoughtfully curated décor create an atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and inviting. It’s effortlessly sexy without trying too hard, making it the perfect setting for everything from an intimate date night to a stylish evening out with friends. Even the music was on point, setting the tone for an afternoon that only got better with every course.

To kick things off, we ordered two of the restaurant’s signature cocktails: the Cucumber Salad and the Mango Sticky Rice. If you’re someone who appreciates creative cocktails, these are a must. The Cucumber Salad was one of the most unique cocktails I’ve ever had. Somehow, it genuinely tasted like a fresh cucumber salad, yet remained perfectly balanced and refreshing. The Mango Sticky Rice, however, completely stole the show. Sweet, tropical, smooth, and beautifully crafted, it’s an easy 10 out of 10 and one I’d happily order again.

For our first course, we shared the 777 Platter, featuring the Crispy Rice Tuna, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, and Isan Fried Chicken. It was the perfect introduction to the menu, allowing us to sample several of the restaurant’s standout dishes.

Each bite was memorable, but the Salt & Pepper Shrimp was undoubtedly my favorite of the trio. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of crispness, it disappeared from the table quickly. The Isan Fried Chicken deserves its own moment as well. Crispy, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying, it’s one of those dishes you simply have to order when you visit.

Of course, one round of cocktails wasn’t enough.

Next up were the Cosmopolitan and the Paper Tiger, both beautifully executed and every bit as enjoyable as our first selections. The cocktail program at Black Jack Bar Tapas is just as impressive as the food, making it easy to spend an afternoon exploring the menu one drink at a time.

As if we hadn’t already fallen in love with the restaurant, our next dishes sealed the deal.

The Edamame offered a simple, flavorful balance before we dove into the Kimchi Fried Rice with Steak. Without question, this was one of the highlights of the entire lunch. Rich, savory, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor, it’s an absolute 10 out of 10 and a dish I’d return for again and again.

No great meal is complete without dessert, and Black Jack didn’t disappoint.

We ended the experience with the Yuzu Donuts served alongside Matcha Ice Cream and the decadent Black Jack Lava Cake. Both desserts were the perfect finale, offering just the right amount of sweetness to end the meal on a high note.

To pair with dessert, we enjoyed one final cocktail, the Good Time Girl, which lived up to its name. Light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, it was the perfect last sip to close out an unforgettable dining experience.

Beyond the incredible food and cocktails, what truly elevated the lunch was the service. Every member of the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely accommodating, making us feel welcomed from beginning to end.

After visiting so many restaurants for this Reservations in the City series, it takes a lot to truly stand out. Black Jack Bar Tapas did exactly that. Between the stunning atmosphere, exceptional cocktails, unforgettable dishes, impeccable service, and thoughtfully curated ambiance, this has easily become one of my favorite restaurant visits of the entire series.
