Breaking into the fashion industry as a runway model seems to be every woman’s dream. The glamorous and fast-pace lifestyle, though, is only granted to a select few. The industry is bolted down with its high expectations on beauty, and is very selective among who’s chosen.

Anna Cleveland, found herself right in the heart of the fashion district doing exactly what she loves: modeling. Stepping out in the world’s finest couture and ready-to-wear apparel, Anna has walked the runway for notable designers such as: Ralph Rucci, Zac Posen, Moschino, Karl Lagerfeld/ Chanel and many more. She is taking her career to the next level, and is becoming a notable face around the globe. Upon speaking with Anna herself, we talked about her career, inspirations, family life and future goals.

MOD Magazine: At what age did you first show an interest in modeling?
Anna: Since I received my first pair of toy high heels that my mother got me when I was little. I would walk everywhere with them on. I still remember that fascinating clicking sound, and how entertaining it was to walk around in them. I also remember one of my first shows in Italy for mister Moschino. I was back stage looking up at all the beautiful draped fabrics on the strong, confident and beautiful woman. I remember asking mister Moschino if I could wear a dress, and some high heels. I was so little that nothing fit me, so I had to wear a t-shirt to walk down the runway. I was disappointed in not having the chance to wear high fashion! He kissed me and said, “Don’t you worry, Anna. One day, all your dreams will come true and you will be one of those girls who will get to wear it all.”
MOD Magazine : When was your first runway show, and which designer did you walk for?
Anna: I’ve done runway shows ever since I was a little kid, but as an adult, my first show was at the age of 13, for Chanel. Karl Lagerfield flew my whole family to Paris, where my Mom, brother and I, all walked in the show together. I was the youngest girl ever to walk for Chanel, and my brother was the first male to do so.

MOD Magazine: As is stands today, what are some of your favorite designer brands and why?
Anna: My favorite two designers are: Ralph Rucci and Zac Posen. Ralph is able to create impeccable garments that transcend spiritually, peace, elegance, and comfort all in one. He designs perfectly tailored peaces, which make all women feel like a million bucks!
MOD Magazine: How have your parents supported you throughout your modeling career?
Anna: I was very lucky to be born into this industry of creative expression. Because my parents are both in the industry themselves, they have always been very supportive of me. The greatest thing that I have are running partners, as I call my family. Fashion is a family affair for us, and I have had the help of my family every step of the way.
MOD Magazine: What advice would you give to younger girls who want to break into runway modeling?
Anna: I would tell them to dream big, take action, rise above who brings you down, and to find a group of people who love you for who you are. Always believe in yourself and you will find that one day, everything will fall into place. Appreciate the people who you encounter along the journey, and learn from them.
