For Resort 2026, Olivier Rousteing approached Balmain’s vision with both confidence and reinvention, seamlessly merging the house’s heritage with modern silhouettes. His unwavering commitment to evolution while honoring core brand codes defined this collection’s spirit.
“The real question is always what do you want to propose?” Rousteing shared. “While my answer changes through the seasons, it always comes back to revisiting the past and bringing it into the present to build the future. That’s why I’m constantly in conversation with Pierre Balmain’s original work, finding new ways to express that dialogue.”
This season, bouclé dominated in pastel checks and sleek black, complemented by bolder color combinations reserved for the showroom. Rousteing noted that tweed accounts for over 20% of Balmain’s ready-to-wear, underscoring its central role.
The collection also featured a reworked floral print from Pierre Balmain’s archives, incorporated across handbags including the Anthem, Sync, Ébène, and the cinched Shuffle.
While knit bandage dresses and split floral skirts appeared, there was a marked move away from bodycon towards oversized tailoring with innovative detailing.
Prince of Wales check suiting often came cropped, paired with micro skirts or shorts to distort traditional silhouettes. One standout was an ultra-roomy coat adorned with a felted, Monet-inspired print—a nod to Pierre Balmain’s artistic passions.
Accessories continued to push boundaries with Rousteing’s column-pediment wedge boots rendered in shearling and leather, styled alongside delicate lingerie dresses. Peach and lemon cashmere cocoon capes rounded out the collection as timeless wardrobe statements.
