Jocqueline and Guillaume Hiriart Carriat Bring LUMA to Paris

Seoul-based leather goods brand Jocqueline teams up with Basque designer Guillaume Hiriart Carriat on LUMA, a colorful new collection debuting at a Paris pop-up.

Seoul-based leather goods brand Jocqueline is making its first move into Europe with LUMA, a new collection created in collaboration with Basque designer Guillaume Hiriart Carriat. The collection is being presented at Galerie Angalia in Paris from October 8–11, bringing together two creative perspectives connected by a shared appreciation for leather, color, and craftsmanship.

Inspired by Txoria txori, a poem by Joxean Artze about love and freedom, LUMA explores the idea of connection without restriction. That spirit carries through the collection’s relaxed silhouettes and playful approach to color, while the collaboration itself brings together Korean design and Basque artisanal heritage.

Leather is at the center of the story. In 2018, Jocqueline founder Tei Kim discovered leather from the Rémy Carriat tannery in the Basque Country while in Paris. The encounter helped inspire the leather goods house he later established in Seoul. Guillaume Hiriart Carriat, meanwhile, grew up in a family of tanners spanning four generations, making the material a natural part of his own creative background.

LUMA builds on that shared connection through a single bag silhouette offered in four sizes: Luma18, Luma28, Luma37, and Luma46, named for their widths in centimeters. The bags feature supple shapes and understated construction, with contrasting color combinations adding a more playful edge. Each style also reveals a different-colored lining when opened, giving the bags a subtle detail that feels personal to the wearer.

The collection is accompanied by a campaign photographed on analog film along the Basque coast by Gladys Tan, with a film produced by Lonny Prod. Natural light, coastal landscapes, and close-up textures tie the imagery back to the region and the craftsmanship behind the collection.

LUMA is available for pre-order at jocqueline.com from October 8–18, with deliveries beginning October 19. The collection is also available for exclusive purchase at the Paris pop-up at Galerie Angalia.
