Stone Island continues its Denim Research project with experimental washes, reflective treatments, and handcrafted finishes that make each piece unique.

Stone Island is continuing its exploration of denim with the latest chapter of STONE ISLAND DENIM RESEARCH for Autumn_Winter ’026–’027. First reintroduced last year, the project returns with four seasonal washes—medium blue, light blue, grey, and black—alongside a series of treatments that bring the brand’s research-driven approach to a familiar menswear staple.

For the new season, Stone Island experiments with techniques including Laser Pigment, Corroded Reflective, and Hand Sprayed Reflective. The treatments give classic denim pieces a more technical feel, while many of the processes are done by hand, making individual garments unique.

One of the standout pieces is a lightweight 13oz denim jacket finished with a highly refractive film containing thousands of glass microspheres. After being garment dyed and laminated, the jacket is manually sprayed to create a shaded effect, meaning no two pieces are exactly alike. A garment-dyed down liner attaches to the outer layer using Stone Island’s signature Dutch rope system.

The collection also moves away from the familiar trucker jacket, using a fatigue shirt as one of its key silhouettes instead. Chambray shirting in indigo and brushed indigo, along with organic cotton flannel, rounds out the seasonal denim offering.

The campaign continues Stone Island’s Community as a Form of Research concept, with rapper Skepta wearing the Hand Sprayed Reflective Light Bull Denim-TC jacket. The lightweight 13oz style combines the reflective laminated denim with a detachable down vest, while its hand-sprayed finish gives the surface a distinctive shaded effect.

Actor Stephen Graham wears another experimental style: the Laser Pigment Indigo Denim coach jacket. Made from 13.5oz denim woven with indigo-dyed yarn, the jacket is stone washed before being manually sprayed with colored pigments and treated with an irregular laser pattern. The laser process fixes the pigment in selected areas, while additional washing removes it elsewhere, creating a finish that varies from piece to piece.

Both styles reflect Stone Island’s continued interest in taking established garments and pushing them through new materials and treatments. Rather than simply changing the appearance of denim, the collection focuses on the processes behind it, making research and experimentation part of the finished design.

With STONE ISLAND DENIM RESEARCH, the brand continues to approach denim as another opportunity for material experimentation, combining traditional garment construction with reflective surfaces, pigment treatments, laser techniques, and hand-finishing for Autumn_Winter 2026–2027.
